The 1924 Peace Dollar was created to commemorate the end of World War I, and its imagery carries that history directly into the design. Lady Liberty appears on the obverse in Anthony de Francisci’s celebrated composition, modeled by his wife, Teresa, while the reverse shows an eagle standing over the word “PEACE,” accompanied by an olive branch and rays of sunlight.
Containing .77344 troy oz of 90% fine silver, this United States Mint dollar belongs to the original Peace Dollar series of 1921–1928 and 1934–1935. This 1924 example is offered in Almost Uncirculated condition and ships in a protective plastic flip.
Selected by Elementls for its connection to the history of American peace, expressive design, and tangible silver content, this is an accessible piece of early 20th-century American history.
